Game Design philosophies

Throughout my academic career, I have designed, played, tested, and documented many prototypes of games. Here are some examples of games that I designed and made along with other amazing talented students.

Ninja Quest

Ninja Quest is a 4-player board game set in a fantasy shinobi land. Four players assume the role of elemental ninja, aiming to defeat their rival ninja (the other players) and claim the “Golden Shuriken” for their lord. The game is a highly interactive, fast-paced, action board game that actively engages players to use strategy and tactics to defeat opponents. The initial playtest of the game, while fun, proved to drag the game out for longer than what should be for a game like this. So further down the developmental process, I introduced further game mechanics such as abilities, reward, and punishment cards, along with other objectives to encourage players to traverse around the board a tad more actively while still allowing a more reserved playstyle if desired. I along with my team ended up with the highest player satisfaction rating at a Game Jam for our game and earned a high grade for the project as well. Element High School

Element High School is a TTRPG (Table Top Role Playing Game) set within the Avatar the Last Airbender Universe. Assume the identity of a brand new high school student belonging to one of the four nations, and most importantly, just be yourself. A link to the TTRPG will be located under this text, feel free to try it yourself.
